Omar Kamel
Omar Kamel has released three retail albums (Shabaka, SunDance, & MoonRise) and two online collections – the freely downloadable electronic album titled “A Fish Called Valis” and “SeptiC”, an album of English Rock/Pop/Alternative tracks, and is now preparing to release an album of Arabic songs, titled ‘Mamnou3 El Initizar’. The tracklist so far includes the tracks ‘Shafshaq’, ‘El Wa7sh El Motamadin’, ‘Be3eed’, ‘Ghali’, ‘Tadrib’, and a few other surprises.
Shabaka
Co-produced with Yanni Giovanos. Shabaka was Egypt’s first ever electronic music album and fused elements from Egyptian media with live and electronic instrumentation.
SunDance
Dancy compositions with live instrumentation and electronics in oriental, asian, and latin flavors. Co-produced by Keti Sharif and featured on her WDA Exercise DVD.
A Fish Called VALIS
We understand that you have had trouble re-member-ing things. Keeping things in-mind, and in-noos – Needless to say, we have the cure, and it is A Fish Called VALIS.
MoonRise
Nighttime to SunDance’s day, Moonrise collects ten new groove-laden lunar-sublimated tracks, infused with violins and qanouns – a modern middle-eastern sound. Produced by Pulse Music World.
SeptiC
The album SeptiC – released online under the band name of Goldfish Euphoria is basically Guitar-Rock Electronic Pop. A bit of this and a bit of that. English songs some more polished than others. Sonically diverse experiments in rock/pop. You can listen to more from SeptiC here.
Music & Film
Although film is by definition a mainly visual medium, the impact of sound on how the film is interpreted, which emotions are being invoked or evoked, and even whether we see what is happening as a good thing or a bad thing - cannot not be underestimated.
Even the early silent films were supported by a piano player, an organist, or even an orchestra; with sound establishing moods and shaping the whole atmosphere of the film, driving its narrative pace and meaning. The first separate and synchronized sound track was introduced by Warner in 1927 for a movie called The Jazzsinger.
Since then, sound has played a vital role in most modern productions, with movies like Slumdog Millionaire being admired as much for their visuals as for the strength of their soundtracks.
